Until the 7th of January the Centre Pompidou (Paris) is presenting the first French retrospective dedicated to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. The exhibition tracks the major moments in the life of the artist through paintings, sculptures, environments and performances of a collection of works which Kusama has herself described as "obsessional". Strongly rooted in a childhood memory, a hallucination from which she developed the polka dot motif, this unclassified work still has significant influence on the contemporary scene.

Demeulemeester created for this season a hybrid collection mixing a decadent and androgyne parts. Tailored blazers, de-structured trenchcoats, embroided jackets were shown along with more exotic pieces such as caftans, sheer shady tops and embroided waistcoat with fringes. Asymmetry and transparences were the main point of the collection in black, white and beige shades. This is one of Demeulemeester most seductive and sensual masterpieces.

A very unpretentious collection, with jackets and denim, mostly, along with a couple of jumpsuits and some drop-waist dresses, all in shades of white, black, gray and blue. Theyskens' also managed to innovate the denim high-waisted jeans, with a double waistband. Another interesting piece are the cropped leather pants treated with a holographic film. He definitely got the NYC street-style as inspiration.

For the past months I had the pleasure to collaborate with Oriol Pujol, a young Spanish designer whom presented his first collection "Excuse me, may I?". It was a great experience, being able to work with someone whose values and concepts are particularly close to mine. The sense of delicacy, noble fabrics and thoroughness to details are the backbone of this collection. The inspiration revolves around the woman and one of its special qualities such as femininity. As women evolve with femininity, is then the evolution of women the meaning of the devolution of femininity?

The concept of the collection is to recover the past attitudes, protocols and poise. Lost sophisticated point of each decade along with the elegance and sobriety, are back with black color. The main materials used are silk, crepe, wool, satin, and rabbit fur. A new contemporary elegance has place now among the fashion scene.

Animals in mythology, that's the inspiration of this collection, in particular the faun. Represented by Demeulemeester, with long goat furs in red & black tones. But there was also place for other creatures; attenuated, black silhouettes, feathery details in belts, bandoliers and hair extensions, made the models half human, half raven. Leather was also present in leggins, gloves and jackets along with wedge boots. Is definitely a collection of a very personal nature.

This is the last week of the first large retrospective exhibition, dedicated to the greatest designer Yves Saint-Laurent. The 7metre high elephant is placed in front of Barcelona's Caixa Forum, as part of the exhibition dedicated to Miquel Barceló, a spanish contemporary artist, who was borned in Majorca. The title of the exhibition comes from the painting (above) of the gorilla a kind of self portrait, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2009. The exhibition will be until the 9th of January 2011.
